Posted in General News | No Comments »

On Thursday, the Year One and Year Two children took part in our amazing Brazilian Carnival! We had lots of  fun with our brightly coloured masks, funky samba dancing and playing our musical instruments. Here are some photographs of our carnival:

Mr Martin came to teach us all a samba rhythm using the ago-go bells and a whistle. We then played the rhythm with our own instruments. We had so much fun!

Which part of the carnival did you like best?

Videos will come soon…

Making Instruments…It’s nearly carnival time!

We have been exploring, designing and making instruments in Design and Technology.

We really enjoyed designing our instruments! Some of us have made shakers, drums, guitars and much more! We have used masking tape and PVA glue to construct our instruments and then decorated them ready for the Brazilian carnival with bright colours, feathers and sequins! We are very excited!

We have made Brazilian carnival masks throughout the week. We used lots of different materials to make our masks special. They look wonderful! We also tried to samba dance!

Here are a few pictures of the boys and girls in Class Five having fun in their masks!

Katie Morag sent Class Five a parcel from Brazil!!! We were very excited! She had seen we were writing our own stories about ‘Katie Morag and the Grand Carnival’. Katie sent us some pencils from Brazil- we loved writing our stories with them. We know that Katie has read our blog before. If you are reading this… Thank you very much Katie Morag!
